Happy Mothers' Day

For Project Scrap-Away Challenge 9, we had to look for one of out first layouts and use it to re-do a new one... Here's what i chose.. I realised I had hardly any first layouts because i was doing mostly cards, albums and altering stuffs.. I wasn't confident in doing layouts then i guess...
And here's what I did... I kept my layout to the size 6x12, the size of the before LO. But I didn't want to be restricted to the size, so I made my layout look like an envelope which is torn and can be opened up to reveal the photo inside. The envelope is made up of gaffer tape and serviette which I added to the cardstock to add texture to it. The serviette is then painted and white washed with gesso. Photo turns are added to hold the parts of the envelope closed. The flower was heated to create crumpling of the petals. The title is made up of fun flock and stickles to highlight the words. The flaps of the envelope open in all 4 directions, these flaps are embellished with buttons, flowers and eyelets on the inner side of them. I kept the embellishments mainly red so they do not take too much attention away from the photo inside. The edges of the layout are painted with crackle paint. As for the background, I used mesh to create the mesh pattern in pink and stamped a circles pattern on gesso. The frame around the photo is made up of gesso to hold the flower centers and beads. I love the texture created. Hope you like my red layout! :)

I'm sure you friends of mine love this layout! I know i haven't let any of you down with this challenge... I'm sure you'll agree... It's just a personal preference i guess.. I am still in shock for being eliminated.. but i'm not going to do something that will please the judge but is totally not ME... I think I did best in this challenge! You can take a look at all the entries for this challenge here... for being so different and always thinking out of the box.. Thank you friends for all the support you have given me! *hugs* You'll continue to support me right?

And like i commented on Project Scrap-Away's blog...

As the famous "Project Runway" quote goes: "As in fashion one day you are in and one day you are out!"

I know I'm ALWAYS in!
